Love !!

Love comes in many forms, but it begins with God. All things have a begining. Lets consider the steps love takes throughout our lives. When we are born and begin to recognize faces we love, we recall our parents looking with love upon us. This is a pure simple love. This love makes us feel secure as it is based on a protective parental love.The next kind of love we may experience is the love of siblings. This is a rough and tumble love. It is a competitive love. It comes as we establish our place in the family.As we move out of the home, to join with other children in school we come to learn various levels of love. Friendship love,( some may last a lifetime). This love can be shallow if it is based on selfish motives. As we mature love becomes more complex. The love for our nation is a vital form of love. This love can take us to a height that can cause us to die for our freedom if our country goes to war. The love of a lover can be bittersweet. This kind of love is what drives us to procreate. It was designed in us by God to establish mankind. But it is the longest process of all the loves. It can begin with a glance, then it flows through lingering stares and then it comes to the highest level of exchange with the words ‘ I do” bonding us in marrage. Finally as we travel the full circle of life we are drawn back to the source of all love… back to God. This form of love is eternal. If all love comes from the purity of Gods heart, how can it be poisonous…

METU

I came to Metu with school trip two years ago, but I never thought about studying here.My dreams were all about İstanbul and Bosphorus University. When the exam results were declared, it was just disappointment for me. Because I would have to come to the university which I hadn’t dreamed and even thought about. However, I forced myself to think the opposite, and assured myself that everything would be ok. Unfortunately it didn’t turn out as I thought, because I learned that the university couldn’t provide proper dwelling for some of the students and I was one of them. Upon arrival, they told us that we could stay in Study Rooms. Not being aware of the cold nights awating for me, I accepted to stay in one of these rooms ( ÇS ). Fortunately days in the study room passed quickly, and the good things left to me were friendships I made. Then they transferred us to the male’s dormitory, and dormitory problem was solved partially. After the initial problem had been solved, I began to get accustomed to this place. Day by day I began to see the good sides of Metu. All in all, I hope, my feelings about METU will get better in the future.

Generation Gap

As we move into the 21st century it may appear the generation gap widens.Stress and media exageration plays a big part in promoting this gap.Along with this comes the emotional baggage most teenagers carry with them as the move towards adulthood.Many teenagers feel aleinated from parents because of the difference in things like music, youthfull jargon and the difference in life in the present times.The music gap began in the 60s and continues to this present day.Teenagers unite together and promote their own opinions which can be wrong at times but it is also up to the parents to listen to what their teen is saying.It’s a two-way street.Finance plays a big part in dividing the family.Pressures mount when costs have to be met.This can be overcomed by sitting down together and laying the facts out.This way the teenager feels included in the family decisions.Modern Technology has its pitfalls.Many older people didn’t learn about computing and it can be quite overwhelming for them.Us teens are always rushing thru our work and this can cause the feeling that we know more than our parents.Cellphones and the way we use them so effortlessly is another factor.I can only go by the way my family relates to eachother.Yes we do have our disagreements and we do think in different time spheres, but we love and respect eachother.This is vital: to keep the communication open.To be reddy to discuss things rationally and to listen to what the other person is saying.All gaps in life can be bridged.It is a work in progress.

Fast developing technology affects people in bad and good ways.It has so many advantages.Today it has become easy to communicate.People reach each other thru internet and phones.No matter how they are far from each other,they have a chance to see each other thru internet.Internet also enables one to meet foreign people,and it helps one to learn about other cultures.Thru media,people reach information easily.They can do the works which require so much attention quickly and it makes them save a lot of time.As for its disadvantages,we can say that it makes people unsocial.It also threatens one’s health,because technical devices emits so much radiation.It has another bad side that people misuse technology.They use it to cheat people.Using technology in the war and gun industry is a misuse of the technology,because it somehow causes people to die.

Surfing!!

These photos give you an idea of what good surf looks like in Manly.If you want great surf more frequently in Sydney,go to North Narrabeen.There aren't that many beach breaks in the world as good as Narrabeen.Watch out for the locals,you'd better to be good.Manly is the first of Sydney's 18 Northern Beaches. The beach itself is a crescent of yellow sand about a mile long,the centre of it faces northeast.The northern most end is called Queenscliff,the centre, Australia boasts some of the best surfing spots in the world.Surfing is enjoyed both sides of the Continent.The areas most visited in New South Wales are along the Northern beaches.Surfers from all over the world come to enjoy the pristine beaches and awesome waves.They are very good at their sport but also maintan a high standard of safty.The Ocean can sudddenly become very treacherous.Rip Curl waves ( cross curent ocean activity) can suddenly pull the surfer underwater for a great distance.The saftysystem used in Australia is among the best in the world.This is needed during storms, as surfers still want to surf, despite the strong winds and high waves.Children as young as 5 and 6 use Boogyboards to learn to surf.This is a small but broader board than the usual surfboard.It is strapped to the ankle so if the child falls off ,the Boogyboard becomes a lifesaving device.Annual Surfing Trials are held every year. Surfers from all over the world attend and compete.

My Lovely Kitten 'Sheeba'

I found a little black and brown kitten near our garden gate.She had been abandoned and was so frightened that she couldn't even move. She just sat there all huddled up.She was in some danger of being attacked by our neighbours dog Cesur.To protect her from him,I put her in a cardboard box and transported her to the safty of our home.At first my family didn't want her.It was not about their being unkind but it is really a big responsibility to care for an animal and we live in an apartment.It is really hard to take care of pet in the apartment.However,I persisted and suggested that she would stay on the balcony,only for the nights and she could go back to the street during the day.You see, I wanted them to fall in love with her and much to my delight they did,but not at first.One day,I sneaked out and smuggled her into the house.I washed her and brushed her hair with old toothbrush.Then she played with me and i fed her.Soon she was all day on the balcony as we were afraid for her safty from teasing neighbourhood children and the Dog.Day by day,my family began to love her.She began to wander around the house freely.I thought when I came here,to university,my family would just throw her away.However,it didn't happen as I thought.They really love her and care for her.She lives with my family now.

The Catastrophe

Damien was on his way to work when all hell broke loose.Looking in his rear mirror, he saw a sight that the world dreaded like a plague was dreaded in olden times.The peaceful city became an inferno of destruction.Flames and dust rose up to the clouds, contaminating the surrounding areas.The looming mushroom erupting into the morning sky chilled him to the bones.He put his foot down hard on the accelerator and tried in vain to escape the horrific after waves of the atomic bomb that had been dropped on the horizon.His heart pounded trying to pop out of his mouth.Fear gripped him like a vice.Thousands of cars streamed behind him. All bent on escaping the terror.But there was no where to hide. They were all at the mercy of ' The Bomb'.Damien prayed like he had never prayed before,calling on God to deliver him from this catastrophe.Then as the white hot atomic waves engulfed his car like a deadly shroud,he heard the sound of a distant bell,tolling his last moments...The bell persistingly rang and rang until with a shout and a jerk.Damien sat up in his bed.Whiew he said,that was some bad dream.

A Whale of a Surprise !!

The sea was calm that day, as Jack and his friend Joe set out for some offshore fishing.The sky was as cloudless as a vacant canvas.Their spirits were as high as a kite..As they expected a day's fishing to boast to their wives and friends.They would try net fishing, which was not their usual rod and real fishing.Hoping to catch a haul to fill their backyards with fish to last them a month.Suddenly the surface of the sea began to boil,and to their utter amasement...The sky disappeared under a large looming shadow.To their horor and surprize,,the largest whale they had ever seen since the time of Noah,threatened their very existance.Joe wailed like a firghtened soul and Jack screamed like a girl.Then much to their relief the monster slipped back under the waves.They left their net along with their dream of a mega catch and turned on their outboard motor.They headed full speed for the welcome shoreline.Far far below the waves,the mother whale and her calf laughed and laughed at the scare she had given the unsuspecting fishermen.

My room mate took up a new hobby.It’s Kendo.At first I didn’t know much about this sport so I wanted to search about it and share with you.Kendo is a japanese martial art and consists of the words ‘KEN which means sword and DO which means road’.It depends on the principle of controling human nature.It has several aims.Its most important aim is to unify the body and soul.It also strengthens the soul,and contributes to personel development.Its another purpose is to make people band together in peace.It has special equipments and clothes.Kendo is practiced with the practice sword ‘Shinai’.Players wear protective armour ‘Bōgu’,it protects the player’s head,body and arms.Bōgu consists of three parts called ’MEN for protecting the head’,KOTE for the ankles’,and ‘DÖ for the chest’.All in all,Kendo helps one to promote peace and joy among society.

The Picture of Dorian Gray

The Picture of Dorian Gray is my favourite novel because the writer has such a fluent pen that I never got bored while I was reading it.Also,while reading the book,I was always curious and was trying to predict what would happen next.With this book,writer emphasizes the things which are wrong in our society.He shows these defects of society thru Dorian Gray,a handsome man who thinks that he can do everything he wants by using his beauty.Other characters in the novel supports the idea that most important thing in the life is beauty.They praise Dorian because of his beauty and this urges him to make what his heart desires.It leads him to forget about his soul and moral things.Gradually,he becomes a real bad man,who killed several people.At the end,Dorian realizes what he becomes,and dies with rage.With Dorian,writer shows us the bitter end of the man who is only concerned with his own desires.He warns us not to get blinded by beauty,and our desires.He points out that soul wins at the end.Although it’s written long ago,the message that the book conveys is still valid.In other words,the society haven’t changed at all since then.Even it’s getting worse day by day.Today,media decides what a perfect girl or boy should look,and people get influenced by this.They set a model for people in the name of fashion and beauty to sell their products.It demoralizes people,and deters them from seeing the bright side of life.It also leads people to regard physical beauty more important than the beauty that lies in one’s heart.All in all,one should not be obsessed with his own beauty,after all beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Street Art

Street art is the art which developed in public places.It can include graffiti,sticker art,street posters.The ways and objectives that street artists use varies.Every street artist has his own style.Street artists may use their art to reach the local people,to get public attention,and their themes may include social messages.While some artist see the puclic place as a suitable area for their artwork,others may take risks by making illegal artwork in public places.In General artists prefer street art,because it allows them to reach much more people than normal art galleries may allow.

Australia

Most of us are curious about different places other than our own country.We always dream about visiting other countries.As everybody does,i too have a special country that i want to visit one day.It’s Australia.I want to go there,because it has really fantastic places to visit,such as Sydney Opera House,and Darling Harbour..And its unique and clean beaches which are available for water sports attract me..It’s multi-cultural country.People who belongs to different cultures live there peacefully.There is even a Muslim area in Australia,it’s called as Bankstown.Its most beautiful city is Sydney,i think.Sydney is the center of art.I hope I'll get a chance to go there,because it's really amazing country.

I am sitting beside a black cat,having just passed under a leaning ladder.Since i cracked my miror today,I think I’ll write on superstitions. People will go to great lengths to avoid walking under ladders. Many origins for the superstition have been surfaced over the years.One provides a source in medieval times. A leaning ladder was thought to resemble the gallows and so by walking underneath a ladder, you are playing out your own execution.Mirrors were thought to reveal a soul (vampires were believed to be soulless, and therefore could not cast a reflection) .Therefore,it was believed that by cracking a mirror, you would damage our own soul and thus 7 years bad luck.For centuries man has held superstitions with great regard.Most of these superstitions were handed down from generation to generation.Many people believe the dangers of sleeping in full moonlight may result in your face being twisted out of shape.It is also believed that during the full moon period, some people’s behaviour changes, This may manifest itself in violent or depressed actions.This was attributed to the Moon’s effect on liquids of this planet. The tides, movements of water masses and finally the liquid content in our brain.None of this has actually been proven but still people like to hold fast to these folk tales and urban myths of generations.

New Environment

Leaving home for the first time is always a momentious occasion.The adjustment to the new enviroment is not as easy as it sounds.One has to adjust to comfortable and sometimes not so comfortable dwelling.New acquaintances with different views and habits than your own have to be adjusted to.One of the most common things missed most in a new surroundings is ' Home Cooking'.The best way to cope with new environment is to think positive.Making your surroundings express yourself as much as possible and using posters of favourite bands will also help you to cope with new environment.

Pet Care

Having a pet is a good thing but with it comes responsibilities.If you want to keep a cat as a pet, first know if you want a long or short haired animal in your home.Some people are allergic to long hair or may not have the time to clean the shed hair off the furniture.Correct food must be given to your pet with plenty of fresh water at all times.Training your pet from an early age is an another important point.Make sure that you use kindness and rewards for good behaviour, rather than scolding the cat when it does wrong.Provide your cat/kitten with a sleeping basket.You should check blankets for fleas regularly.Spend quality time with your pet to avoid it getting bored. Kittens usually find things to do but older cats need toys.A good item to buy is a 'Scratching Post'. This is good for the cat as it stops them from destroying the furniture.Finally, your pet is not a toy so treat it with respect and love at all times.

Metallica’s expected new album ‘Death Magnetic’ was relased on September 10,2008.It’s the ninth album of Metallica.It seems like a failure to some Metallica fans,but others enjoy the new album.In my opinion it's not the best album they have ever made,but its definitely smashing.It's different from previous albums of Metallica.You can see different points of views in this album,it broadens one’s mind.This new album is also a good challenge to the ones who think Metallica is not productive any more.The first video clip is recorded for the song called 'The Day That Never Comes'.In this video clip America’s brutal attidutes towards Middle East is critisized. All in all,I love Metallica’s latest album and i hope every Metallica fan will feel the same.
